One has not seen anything if he has not visited Kashmir yet. If Rishi Kapoor’s bobby in 1973 has shown us a glimpse of its beauty, Mani Ratnam’s Roja has revealed its political impediments. Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar and Highway’s many scenes were also shot in the Valley.
Kahsmir has a lot of scenic beauties to offer to the tourists. The Summer capital of J&K, Srinagar has Dal lake which is the second largest urban lake of the state.Spread across 8 km in length and 4km in width, one must experience the housing boats which gives a fascinating picture of nature. Moving 3 km away from Dal Lake is shrine of Lord Siva which was built by Shri Adi Shankaracharya dating back to 9th century AD.
Nishat Bagh, Tulip Gardens, Shalimar Gardens and Moghul Gardens recreate a whole magic of flora & fauna of Kashmir. Krisna dhaba at Srinagar offers all tourists mouth watering delicacies.
Best way to plan trip to Kashmir is to Visit Gulmarg, highest peak first, then move to pahalgam ( land of shepherds ) and then to Sonamarg where mountains shine like gold. There are many abrupt strikes in Srinagar interrupting the roads and its quiet possible to miss your flight. So make sure one day before your take off you halt in Srinagar.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags, carry one camera with the best lens and your favorite spirit to relish in the Indian Swiss. I shall end this with a favorite quote from my guide. ” Bumbai ki ladkiyan aur kashmir ki mausam ka kuch bharosa nahi”.
